Will Eating More Food make
me Grow Taller?
DR. WALLACE: I'm 13 and not
very tall. I'm a big eater and I'm wondering, if I ate more,
would I grow taller? I don't have an eating disorder, but I do
want to stay slim. But if eating more food will make me grow
taller, then I'll stop worrying about being slim until I'm tall.
- Sue, Pekin
The University of Pittsburgh conducted research on 162
children to find out if the amount of food one eats determines
one's growth and height. After five years of study, it was
determined that those children who ate the most weighed more,
but did not grow taller. The research group is convinced a
person's height is governed by heredity. The majority of females
continue growing until they're 17, so you've got four more years
to add height.
