Vietnamese people
getting taller
The average height of Vietnamese
people increases by 1-2 cm every ten years, according to a local
nutrition agency.
A recent study conducted by the
National Institute of Nutrition, under the Ministry of Public
Health, revealed that the average height of urban citizens at 160 cm
is 1.6 cm higher than that of residents in rural areas.
The institute blamed malnutrition
in the developmental stages of children to be one of the major
contributing factors in the lower rural height rates.
Therefore, said the institute, in
order to maintain proper growth, more prevention needs to be
directed towards the nourishment amongst our younger age groups
